Awards Banquet 2019
At the meeting on Tuesday we made a mistake when we announced the cost of the banquet next month. The cost is not $15 but rather it will be $19 per person. The board voted to help cover the cost of each meal so you are each saving $10 per person. Please RSVP with Brad Cramer or Craig Lacy so we can get a final head count. We need this information ASAP!
Again, here are the details:
Date: Sunday, November 10
Location: Apple Tree Restaurant
Time: Social Hour - 5pm Dinner at 6pm
Cost: $19 per person
Sincerely, the YVFOA Board

NEW MENTOR PROGRAM
New this year will be the rolling out of a new mentor program. The YVFOA has partnered with WOA and NASO to pilot a program aimed at reaching new officials, training them AND retaining them. This is a concerted effort by the YVFOA and WOA to address the decline in officials in all sports, especially football. Bill Tilton has agreed to be the Mentor program manager and we are excited that he is willing to share his experience as a high school and college official to help the game of football in the Yakima Valley. Come to the meetings and learn more. If you are interested in being a mentor contact a board member.

Yakima Valley Football Officials’ Association
The YVFOA is looking for fresh recruits to continue to provide a great service to the local football scene in the Yakima Valley. We cover games from Sunnyside to Kittitas to Cle Elum and everywhere in between. Many people love the game of football and what better way to give back to the game than to officiate. Here is what you can expect by becoming an official:
The BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE. there is not better place to be than on the field. Officials are right there in the trenches.
Stay connected to the game. If you played in the past, this would give you a chance to stay in the game.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!! Training. You don’t have to be an “expert” of the game. We will teach you the rules and the mechanics of being a quality official.
Compensation for your time. Between Grid Kid games, junior high and high school sub-varsity games you can earn as much or as little as you want.
Meetings will begin in July but it's never too early to sign up.
